TOPIC: BUILDING ON THE ROCK

TEXT: MATTHEW 7:24-27

🔑Key Verse:
“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock” (Matthew 7:24).

A house must be solidly built. Therefore, in building a house, the nature of the soil and the foundation always determine its strength. Proper foundations are necessary and you can then imagine how strong a house that is built on a rock will be.

It is unwise to build on mere sand, because the foundation will be unsteady and the house will eventually fall. In contrast, it is wise to build one’s house on a sure foundation that will make the building to stand strong even in stormy weather.

The parable of Jesus in our Bible passage compares building one’s life on the teachings and example of Jesus to a flood-resistant building that is on the rock. The house built upon a rock will withstand any storm because the builder is wise; while the house built on the sand will collapse because the builder is foolish.

Jesus is the Rock of Ages. A wise child must build his life on His word. His word is the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. When you hear God’s word, believe it, think on it, obey its commandments and share it with others. Then you will grow in faith, become strong and be able to stand the test, trial and trouble of life.

God, help me to build my life on Jesus Christ, the Rock of Ages.
